Taralga (population 285) sits high up (850 mts) in the Great Dividing Range. Founded in the 1850's, Taralga is half an hour North of Goulburn by good sealed road. Downtown Sydney is just 2.5 hours away. Taralga is prime farming country and enjoys 31 inches annual rainfall, producing fine wool, beef cattle, fat lambs, potatoes, berries and fine cool climate wines.
The famous Taralga Australia Day Weekend Rodeo is huge. With excellent Hotel restaurant dining and fantastic cafes for good coffee and treats, there is much to see and do. Snowfalls in winter, log fires, glorious stone buildings, wildlife park, and a paradise for fishing in the local streams.
Going North Taralga is the gateway to the incredible Wombeyan Caves and Abercrombie River. Coming South from Jenolan Caves and Oberon, this is a great place to stop for a quality meal or stay for a few days.
